Job’s Daughters is your place!

We are a fun and exciting group of girls who love life and learning about our place in the world. A lady named Mrs. Ethel T. Wead Mick created this group for girls in 1920—over 90 years ago! We have girls all over the United States and Canada, as well as Australia, the Philippines, and Brazil. Worldwide, there are over 10,000 girls who belong to Job’s Daughters.

Mrs. Mick wanted the best for her daughters and their friends. She wanted them to feel important and to be in control of their work. Job’s Daughters today run their meetings and plan their activities. You may be asked to take an office in the group, such as the Treasurer—who keeps up with our money, or a Custodian—who sets up the meeting room.

We are girls who love to learn! Each girl who joins is given a little purple book called the Ritual which tells you all about the organization and the order of our meetings. We will give you lots of support and encouragement; teaching public speaking, leadership and community service.

By joining and being active in Job’s Daughters, you will learn leadership and have the chance to travel to meet and work with girls from around the world. You will go to swimming parties, dances, family picnics, sleepovers, mini-golf and much more!

We want you to join with us for fun, friendship, helping others, and the chance to learn more about life! You will be encouraged to be responsible and to participate in the social and family-friendly events and activities we plan. Fairness, honesty, being equal, and respect are the values of Job’s Daughters.

Every parent desires the best for their daughter—to learn the skills necessary to compete in a global market. Job’s Daughters is the place that makes this happen.Founded in 1920 by Mrs. Ethel T. Wead Mick, Job’s Daughters International is an organization of young women boasting over 10,000 members in the United States, Canada, Australia, the Philippines and Brazil.

Job’s Daughters was founded during the height of the Women’s Suffrage Movement, and just a few months prior to the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. Mrs. Mick was a progressive woman wanting the absolute best for her daughters and their friends. She recognized that women’s roles were changing, and that the opportunity for women to redefine their place in society was nearing.

Job’s Daughters gain valuable leadership experience, serve as part of a team, and learn democratic principles as they run their own meetings using parliamentary procedure, decide on activities, and plan service and fundraising events.

Members also have fun together at activities such as swimming parties, dances, family picnics, slumber parties, miniature golf, marching in parades and so much more.

Opportunities to travel around the U.S. and abroad to visit other Job’s Daughter members typically results in friends that last a lifetime. We desire for our members to cherish their education and to continue it through life.

We offer scholarships every year to help members with college tuition, textbooks, and other expenses. Many of our members have pursued higher education at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. Job’s Daughters have careers in nursing, law, education, politics, entertainment, and various other fields.

Just like Mrs. Mick envisioned, Job’s Daughters creates strong, determined young women who are personally and professionally ready for life.

Job’s Daughters perform service projects to help their community. We actively support the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment (HIKE) Fund, which purchases hearing assistive devices for hearing impaired children. HIKE is a cherished focus of our organization. Over $3 million has been raised for HIKE and 2,260 hearing devices have been donated to children who otherwise could not afford them.

In short, Job’s Daughters International offers the qualities that today’s young women want and need from organizations that earn their commitment: fun, friendship, helping others and the chance to learn organizational and leadership skills.

When a girl joins Job’s Daughters, she is told, “We strive to teach that to be fair is to do good.” Fairness, honesty, equality, and democratic principles are the cornerstones of our organization.

Allowing your daughter the opportunity to join Job’s Daughters will open her world and allow her to learn and practice the ethical and spiritual values of the organization. She will be the role model you’ve always wanted her to be!
